On
Wednesday, May 12, 2010 the Non-verbal
Learning Disability (NLD) for Pediatrics of the North Shore – LIJ Health System
presented Chefs Benefit For Pediatrics. This evening brought together generous supporters
to raise awareness for this disability.
Children
with Non-verbal Learning Disability or NLD are very verbal, and may not have academic
problems until they get into the upper grades in school. Often their biggest problem
is with social skills. With events like Chefs Benefit For Pediatrics, the Child Life &
Education Services Program at North Shore LIJ can continue to bring families the support
and education they need to make it through the traumatic experience of raising a child
with special needs.
Chefs,
Restaurants, Bakeries and Wineries provided an assortment of delicious food and spirits
for this spectacular evening. Below are just
a few of the many that attended and donated their time to make this evening one to
remember.
