7th Annual Wine & Food Expo
Thursday, May 1st, 2008
The Farmingdale Rotary Club held it’s 7th Annual Wine and Food Expo on May 1, 2008 at the Huntington Hilton. This event showcased a wide array of culinary samples, wines, liquors, and craft beers.
Absolutely Mario (below left) had a cold antipasto on hand, which consisted of wrapped Prosciutto, roasted peppers, basil, and mozzarella. They also brought a raspberry crumb cheesecake that was superb.
Chef Luke of Walls Wharf truly impressed the guests with his beautifully presented tuna tartare
(above right) with golden pineapple and ripe avocado drizzled with a sesame ginger dressing and teriyaki glaze garnished with micro greens. The cubes of tuna married well with the super sweet pineapple and avocado.
La Finca (below left) brought traditional Colombian comfort food, which consisted of tasty arroz con pollo (chicken and rice) and hearty empanadas (beef
patties).
The Victorian Tea Room (above right) brought a medley of taste treats including tea sandwiches, scones, cakes, and a vast variety of herbal teas. What stood out from these samples were the delicious raisin walnut tea sandwich and their jasmine citrus tea that had a relaxing aroma.
The family owned Cugini Pizzeria and Restaurant
(below left) of Plainview brought a sampling of their traditional Italian menu, which included a variety of Panini sandwiches and a perfect penne a la vodka.
New to the scene, The Melting Pot (above right) restaurant brought their popular fondue style dining experience with them. On display was a milk chocolate dessert fondue with Oreo crusted marshmallows, brownies and strawberries for dipping that concluded our evening on a sweet note.
