The
16th Annual Taste of the Harvest Celebration was held at Crest Hollow Country
Club in Woodbury, New York on Tuesday, October 27, 2009. This event was held to benefit
Island Harvest, a charity that has grown to become Long Island’s largest hunger relief
organization. In 2008 and 2009 Island Harvest distributed over 37,000 packs of healthful
food to thousands of students who rely on school meals during the week, but are at risk of
going hungry on weekends.
The
evening featured lots of good times as Steve Harper and Maria Garcia of KJOY’s morning
radio team served as Guest MC’s. There were also Silent and Chinese auctions, a 50/50
raffle and of course lots of delicious food donated by a number of generous restaurants,
country clubs, bakeries and other establishments. A number of people came together to make
this an evening to remember for the 16th year in a row.
