Taste of the Harvest Celebration
Island Harvest
Crest Hollow Country Club- Woodbury, NY
Tuesday, October 26, 2010

The 17th Annual Taste of the Harvest Celebration was held at the exquisite Crest Hollow Country Club on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. This event was held to benefit the well deserving organization of Island Harvest.

Island Harvest supplies 570+ community-based nonprofit organizations on Long Island with vital food support to help stop the advancing rise of hunger in our local communities. Since its birth in 1992, Island Harvest has provided more than 63 million pounds of food, which amounts to almost 49 million meals, for those in need.

Guests were able to participate in Silent and Chinese Auctions, a 50/50 raffle and even had the opportunity to meet Long Island Celebrity Chef, Tom Schaudel, who was signing copies of his best selling book. Island Harvest put together a touching slideshow displaying a number of statistics regarding hunger on Long Island for all to be informed of the severity of the situation.

Long Island Food Critic Awards were presented to three worthy establishments in attendance this evening. Grasso’s was awarded for Best of Show: Restaurant, Laurel Lake Vineyards for Best of Show: Vineyard and last but not least, Messina Market was awarded for Best of Show: Market.
