Long Island Hospitality Ball
2013
|
The Long Island Hospitality Ball was filled with good vibes and good spirits. Air was rich with the aroma of decadent food. Men were clad in suit and tie and women dolled up in their dresses and heels. Black was the color of the evening, reflective of the women in a black gown and top hat who greeted the guests upon entering. All were dressed to impress in the lavish setting of the Crest Hollow Country Club complete with its marble floors, Corinthian columns, and huge in-ground pool with its logo proudly marked on the pool floor. There were fire displays with purple and blue light. It definitely was the event to go to, where one could try a new food or drink.
Glasses of champagne set in display were readily provided upon entering. Master of ceremonies Keith Hart (above right) kicked off the evening with an Awards ceremony recognizing the life-long achievements of the honorees. This fundraising event for the American Cancer Society honored E. Lloyd Sobel (below left), Anthony Scotto, Victor Scotto, and Rennie Leone. “Everyone’s family has been touched by cancer,” commented Hart. Victor Scotto (below right) reminisced of his younger days starting his first Italian restaurant. He talked of rough beginnings and rewarding outcomes. He now proudly has over 1,000 employees that are part of his restaurant and catering empire.
After
the speeches, guests slowly advanced around the pool stopping at tables along the way.
There were numerous tables with restaurants, bakeries, and beverage brands presenting
their finest dishes, treats, and drinks. Guests were roaming from table to table to
indulge in a taste of what each had to offer and plenty of spirits to last the night.
It was not uncommon to see a champagne or wine glass in one hand and food samples in the other of everyone present. In fact, it was rare to see someone without a glass in their hand. Needless to say the night was merry. A wide variety of musical styles permeated every area of the event keeping the party goers immersed in the spirit of the night. Guests were also treated to a surprise fireworks display at dusk that delighted the attendees while illuminating this grand affair.
With more than 2,000 guests in attendance and roughly 200 sponsors, enjoy viewing a selection featured below:
Still at the heart of this fabulous event is Keith Hart, best known for his eponymous marketing agency on New York's nightlife and entertainment scene. His personal battle with thyroid cancer motivated him to go public with his mission and rally the industry to join the fight against cancer.
