The
Friends of Oheka event was a Gatsby-style gathering inside the magnificent walls
and gardens of the historic castle in celebration of it's 90th anniversary. The
Friends Of Oheka is "a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection,
preservation and public awareness of Oheka Castle.
The
party was also in recognition of the Melius Family for bravely and continuously
rising to the challenge of restoring this extraordinary destination for 25
years, and in memory of Hubert Lee, who dedicated 9 years to making the event a
beautiful and classy affair.
Musical entertainment was provided by the Walt
Whitman High School Jazz Band and Chamber Orchestra. Folks were dressed in 1920s
garb, posing for photos with antique cars and enjoying hors d'oevres, light
dinner and dessert.
Singing and instrumental performances took the stage, awards
were given, and guests casually socialized with friends while the sun set over
the scenic grounds of the castle.
