Cradle of Aviation Museum
Saturday August 13th & Sunday August 14th 2016

The 6th annual SUMAQ Peruvian Food Festival was held at the Cradle of Aviation Museum and hosted more than 20 exhibitors from New York and Peru. The event featured authentic Peruvian cuisine and live cooking demonstrations from top Peruvian chefs from as far away as Lima who presented their signature dishes at this two day festival. Guests indulged in dishes such as ceviche, anticuchos, picarones, and chicha morada (a drink made from purple corn).

SUMAQ, which means "delicious" in the indigenous language of Quechua was a two day event highlighting the delicacies of the Peruvian culture. The gentle blend of ancient Incan cooking practices and immigrant traditions from Spain, Africa and Japan, is what makes Peruvian cuisine unique and is steadily conquering the interest of everyone around the world.

The mission of Peru's gastronomic association, APEGA is to help promote Peruvian cuisine and culture and their partnership has allowed them to bring award winning chefs from Peru like Javier Olano, Juana Cuno, Juan Talledo, Magaly Silva, Jesus Manuel Gutarra amongst others!
