Fourth Annual "A Night on the Town in Mineola"
Thursday, January 24th, 2008

The Fourth Annual "A Night on the Town in Mineola," hosted by St. Aidan and Corpus Christi Parish Schools, took place at The Jericho Terrace on Thursday, January 24, 2008.  Just as you would expect from a "night on the town," this evening was full of food, dancing, and fun.  Not only was the evening fun for participants it was also for a worthy cause with proceeds benefiting both schools.

Upon entering, guests were treated to the music of pianist Jennifer Wells (below left). The event kicked off with music by Ed de Corsia's, New York's Most Dangerous Big Band (below right).   It continued with Kim Berk, the MC and Honoree from radio station KJOY 98.3 FM.  Kim Berk did a spectacular job of keeping the crowd engaged throughout the evening.

The evening rolled on with DJ Joey B’s (the man of a thousand voices) entertainment.  As people made their way through two gorgeous ballrooms filled with stunning table displays ranging from family owned bakeries to well known restaurants.  You could smell the chefs' specialties being cooked up for this extravagant evening.

The Ivy Cottage Restaurant (above left) presented the hit of the evening for both presentation and taste.  Chef Joe Lester served a spectacular curried shrimp with a mango chutney atop a banana bilini garnished with mache (above right).  This dish was layered with flavor. You could taste the superb blend of curry and mango!  The almonds and toasted coconut added a nice texture to the dish.

Manuel Gomes of La Marmite (above left) shared two excellent dishes with tasters which included a quite tasty eggplant rolatini and a delicious beef bourguignon.  The beef bourguignon was very flavorful and tender enough to cut with a fork.  The eggplant rolatini was a crowd pleasing favorite that was classically presented and spiced to perfection.  La Marmite's tasting was, without a doubt, "over the top!"  Café Sport (above right) brought suckling pig that was moist and incredibly tender.

Heart of Portugal (above left) had a spectacular spare rib that was tender, very tasty and flavorful.  Their goat dish was also very good, succulent, and just the right game.  Augie from Cardinali Bakery (above right) brought some wonderful bread goods to the event.

Rich Cutler from Mim’s of Roslyn (above left) turned up the heat with ahi tuna served with a spicy mayo.  Minado Japanese Restaurant (above right) provided deliciously fresh sushi & sashimi which were as tasty as they were beautiful.

Robert Franceschini, Jr of Piccolo’s (below left) presented a very fresh salsa Verde on bruschetta that was light and delicious. While Richard Renny of Uncle Baccala had eggplant that melted in your mouth.

Carlino’s made a succulent chicken sorrentino and pasta with broccoli, sun dried tomatoes garlic & extra virgin olive oil that was quite good.  Their homemade sausage was also excellent.  Paula and her staff from Bakers of all Nations (above right) brought a wide array of desserts and treats that ended the evening on a sweet note (below left).

In terms of entertainment, the grand finale of the evening was a performance by Arthur Murray and the Starlight Dance Studios (Above middle/right) exhibiting ballroom dancing as well as a variety of other dance styles.
