A Taste of The Town
Tuesday, April 8th 2008

A Taste of the Town was held on April 8, 2008 at Stuart Thomas Manor to benefit the YES community counseling center.  Attendees sampled culinary tastings from over twenty area restaurants, specialty foods, and beverage establishments.

Participants at the event were as follows: Bella Pastry, Bellagio, Big Daddy's, Bottles on Broadway, Campbell's Bakery, Carlton on the Green, Connors Catering, Cara Mia II (above left), Culinary Academy of Syosset, Father & Son's Caterers, Giovanni's (above right), Francesco's Meats, Il Classico (below left), Inn on Main, Lotus Garden, My Little Cupcake, Palmer's American Grille (below right), Sal's Place, Sergio's, Stuart Thomas Manor, Suburban Eats & Veranda II.

Iavarone Brothers (below left),  established in 1927, flaunted their decades long expertise by providing two of the best dishes at the event.  Their sweet and savory Bourbon Baby Back Ribs simply jumped off the bone with the slightest touch.  They also served an incredible tuna sashimi (below right) on a marvelous shaved fennel salad atop a scored cucumber slice.

Big Daddy’s (below left), which had an entire pig on display (below right), provided perfectly succulent pulled pork sandwiches with a homemade slaw garnish.  Their crawfish andouille gumbo was flavored with layers of spice.  They also brought a shrimp and pasta jambalaya that was a crowd pleaser.

The evening of extraordinary culinary delights was rich with succulent foods, thirst-quenching beverages and an array of "Who's Who" of the Massapequa area.
