A Woodbury Favorite For Over 20 Years Frank’s Gourmet Pizza and Restaurant, located on Woodbury Road in Woodbury, has been in business for over 20 years. Their extensive menu features a wide variety of delicious pizza’s, appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts.
The
intense scent of freshly made pizza is bound to lure you in for a bite to eat. The
pizza counter is straight ahead upon entering and to your right is the cozy dining
area that provides a comfortable setting for guests dining in for lunch or dinner. With so much to choose from on the menu, we separated our dining experience into two sessions. We began our first visit with a classic breadbasket (below left) filled with hot Italian bread and garlic knots, followed by an order of Baked Clams (below right). The clams were chopped, filled with nicely seasoned stuffing and taste great with or without some added lemon zest.
You’ll find the Brick Oven Chicken on the specials board at Frank’s Gourmet (below left). The chicken is rolled with prosciutto, imported provolone, spinach and roasted peppers then seasoned with Italian herbs creating an incredible Parmesan crust. Served with a side of al dente prepared pasta, the chicken is tender and overflowing with luscious flavors. The Parmesan crust really enhances the chicken and overall the entrée offers a flavorful combination of ingredients. It is definitely a specialty item worth ordering.
The
Veal ala Sicily is a favorite amongst customers, and with one bite we could surely
see why (above right). The veal is extremely tender and sautéed in a Marsala wine
sauce with mushrooms, prosciutto and artichokes, topped with melted mozzarella
cheese. Not only was the veal impressively tender, but the artichokes were as well.
We’d deem this standout entrée a definite notable dish. We ended our first visit with the Tortellini Alfredo - petite tortellini loaded with cheese and bathed in a creamy alfredo sauce (below left). The sauce coats the pasta just right and this dish is a great option when it comes to their pasta offerings.
On
our second visit we focused primarily on the pizza. Frank’s Gourmet
offers a wide variety of both classic and specialty slices. Gluten free pizza is
even available upon request. While the regular slices are good, their specialty
slices are what most people rave about. A popular slice amongst customers is the
Chicken Bacon Ranch slice (above right). The simple ingredients combine to offer
your palate a taste of abundant flavor in each bite.
Both the Balsamic Chicken (above left) and Spinach Florentine (above right) slices were unique, delicious finds and the Chicken Marsala slice (below left) really stood out compliments of the scrumptious Marsala sauce.
Their Grandma slice (above right) features their tasteful marinara sauce that is enjoyably seasoned, surely setting their Grandma slice apart from other places. If you’re looking for a spicy slice, we can confidently recommend the Buffalo Chicken slice (below left), as it is one of the best Buffalo Chicken slices we’ve encountered.
The Fresh Mozzarella and Tomato slice (above right) is full of fresh, garlic flavoring and the Pesto slice (below left) is also to be commended as it features their delicious marinara sauce and just the right amount of pesto.
The Stuffed Garlic Knots (above right) are a delightfully unique find at Frank’s Gourmet. We sampled the pepperoni stuffed knot and the ricotta and spinach stuffed knot. Both were nice and garlicky and surely a delicious interpretation of your standard garlic knots. Frank’s Gourmet Pizza and Restaurant is definitely a great find in the town of Woodbury. It offers a family friendly environment and delectable meals at a great value. Next time you’re in the area, be sure to stop in for a slice or two. You won’t be disappointed!
