A Take Out Joint That Will Surprise You Attilio’s
Pizza is a charming, family owned Italian eatery located on the ever-busy
Mineola Avenue in Roslyn Heights. For the most part Attilio’s is considered to
be a takeout pizzeria, however there is a dining area for those interested in
dining out for
Upon
entering the restaurant you are greeted by the intriguing scent of freshly baked
pizza. They offer an extensive array of gourmet pizzas including Buffalo
Chicken, Baked Ziti and Caesar Salad slices. They also offer a wide beverage
selection from your basic Coca Cola to the exclusive New York Home Style Iced
Tea which is an organic, all natural iced tea brewed in Brooklyn. The interior is charmingly decorated as vintage Coney Island photos and other
vintage New York portraits grace the inside of the eatery. We began our evening with a House Salad (below left). This garden salad featured an abundance of grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, artichoke hearts, onions and marinated mushrooms. Served with a side of Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing, this salad was the perfect start to our meal. The ingredients were extremely fresh, there was a piece of chicken in every bite and the fresh mozzarella really enhanced the dish.
Next
we sampled the Margherita Personal Pizza, which was ideal for sharing amongst
the table (above right). The crispy, paper-thin crust, which is also available in whole wheat,
proved that Attilio’s truly knows how authentic, New York style pizza is to be
made. It’s a simple pizza that offers an abundance of flavor, it’s available
at a great price and was an excellent snack to prepare us for the delicious food
that was to come. The
first entrée to satisfy our palates was the Chicken Francese (below left). They offer a new
twist on this dish at Attilio’s. The tender chicken breast is made with lemon,
butter and cream sherry. The subtle additive of the sherry really enhanced the
flavor giving the sauce that coated the chicken a nice, creamy finish.
Next
we were served Seafood Marechiara (above right). This is one of their most popular pasta entrées
and is made with fresh clams, calamari and shrimp covered in a light marinara
sauce. Described as a seafood lovers delight, this entrée came out piping hot
and overflowing with an abundance of perfectly cooked seafood and a good consistency
of pasta. The
Eggplant Parmesan was the final dish to grace our table (below). The tender, yet crispy
eggplant was covered with fresh mozzarella cheese and chunky tomato sauce and
was an enjoyable ending to our dining experience at Attilio’s. It isn’t hard to see that Attilio’s isn’t just your typical pizzeria. They offer a variety of exceptional foods from specialty Italian dishes to chicken fingers for the little ones. Not only is Attilio’s family owned, it is also family oriented. There is something for the whole family to enjoy. If you don’t see something on the menu, ask! If it’s in stock they are willing to make it for you. Attilio’s goes above and beyond to make their customers happy and offer outstanding entrées at affordable prices.
